Now you are going to apply what you have learned in class. As per the class discussion, please provide me with three different headlines for the story (article in Question #3) and outline your reasoning(s) and explanation for each. Please ensure you base your answer on the different elements of headlines we spoke about in class. Please go into detail for each. (12 Marks)
Headline-1: Do you recognize these 8 movie foods? Test your 80’s knowledge now!
Explanation: This headline keeps the information concise, making it more digestible whilst keeping it relevant to the content of the article. Because it is much shorter it will perform much better on SEO and for attracting readers’ attention. I kept the context to make sure that the headline could retain its promise of what the reader could expect. I used a call to action at the end of the article to get people interested in testing their memory/knowledge.
Headline-2: Most adults know these 8 foods from 80s movies, do you?
Explanation: This headline focuses on what average adults know regarding movie foods from the 80’s which are formed in a manner that is very digestible and easy to read. This article is relevant to adults as they are directly called upon. I used fear of missing out on my messaging as it questions if readers know what most adults do. The call to action at the end asks the question that makes people think critically. Any time the word “you” is used it works out well as readers love to read or talk about themselves as this is the most relatable thing to them.
Headline-3: Test your memory! Most adults recognize these 8 movie foods, from the 80’s
Explanation: My third headline does a good job of being direct and concise which makes the information very digestible. The use of numbers within my headline allows users to better understand and increases memory retention. The call to action uses words that directly target the reader and cause them to become curious about if their memory passes the test. The headline is transparent and tells you exactly what to expect from the article, making it strong.
